Sports Hall_Capo d'Orlando D'ORLANDO
The project is part of a series of initiatives promoted by the municipal administration of Mazara del Vallo to improve road connections and intermodal transport. Its ambition is to create a place with a renewed identity of its own, capable of serving as a catalyst for urban regeneration in the surrounding degraded area.
Drawing on these elements, the project sought continuity rather than rupture. The new development is conceived almost as an extension of the old sports ground, with new buildings arranged around it to complete its functional and formal offering.
With this in mind, the project seeks to establish a dialogue with its historical and cultural context, based on two key considerations: respect for the environment and the agricultural landscape. Traces remain in this area of the gradual process of human settlement that has shaped the image and identity of this landscape over the centuries.
