Villa C_986

This villa, built in the Cefalù area, uses an underground design.

The house is buried on three sides, enclosed by reinforced-concrete walls with a ventilated cavity and inner walls of sandstone blocks, plastered on the inside. The fourth side opens onto the sea via a small terrace, connected by a steep staircase to a small beach.

The site’s wild character—a cliff plunging into the sea—inspired an intervention designed to minimise the building’s visual impact. The very compact house was built within an excavation measuring 10 x 8 m.
