Lid Ark
Lid Ark’s new premises were designed not only as a showroom for lighting solutions, but also as a design lab where technical and decorative lighting solutions for both indoor and outdoor spaces can be explored, tested and refined.
To let the contents take precedence over the container, materials were kept to a minimum: Billiemi marble for the cladding and tabletop, perforated sheet metal to screen off a small office, and brick-red lacquer defining the movable walls that conceal the inaccessible rear spaces.
The small garden, also used as an exhibition space, is conceived as a roofless room bordered by green walls of bamboo plants.

The venue’s floor plan suggested installing a large, specially designed table with a Billiemi stone top. One side of the table features numerous drawers for technical components used by sales consultants and designers.
The opposite end features a corner that can be closed off with a curtain, forming a semicircle. The curtain creates a dark space where the lighting characteristics of the various fixtures can be better appreciated.
