On October 27, 2022, at Palazzo Comitini, the Palermo Architects’ Association presented awards to members celebrating 50 years of professional practice. Among them was Professor Architect Fausto Provenzano, founder of the studio, who expressed his thanks in these words.
"A few months after graduating, I made a pilgrimage to Geneva to study the works of Le Corbusier. There I met and interviewed the Master’s granddaughter, eager to get definitive answers to questions I thought were profound. In reality, the granddaughter, understandably bored, brushed me off and gave me a lithograph of the famous image of the open hand drawn by her grandfather for Chandigarh. The book on Le Corbusier that I had intended to write never saw the light of day, but that lithograph, which I still keep hanging in my office, represents a paradigm of our profession that I often refer to: to receive with open hands and give back with open hands.
I am grateful to have practiced, and to continue practicing, this wonderful profession, which calls on us every day to profess optimism of the heart and mind.
I hope I have given back, and will continue to give back. I dedicate this small milestone of fifty years in the profession to my young colleagues: those pictured with me here, whom I thank for bringing our studio to life every day, and those I have yet to meet, who are just starting out on their own journeys.
To everyone I say: Design, design, design, because designing is a wonderful way to be in the world, to receive and to give back."
Fausto Provenzano
